CPA, CA, MMPA, B.A.Sc, Computer & Electrical Engineering
Vishal Raithatha has earned a reputation for crafting sophisticated tax solutions and then explaining them in plain English. That reputation evolved from his truly unique journey of over 20 years, during which he became an accomplished scholar, obtained second-to-none tax planning experience, and developed his own innovate approach and passion for problem solving that sets him apart from the competition.
At the age of fourteen, Vishal first entered the professional advisory field spending weekends and summers at a chartered accounting firm. Academically, he always found himself seeking the most challenging path, obtaining his first degree from the University of Toronto in Computer and Electrical Engineering which he applied at a tech company in Silicon Valley.
Vishal went on to obtain a Masters of Management and Professional Accounting degree from the University of Toronto and joined our firm in 2009. He started to be mentored by Perry Truster, our founding partner and one of Canada’s most distinguished tax practitioners, which set him on a path to not only master tax law, but to develop the practical approach to tax planning he uses today to save his clients their hard-earned dollars. Vishal fell in love with tax planning then and has never looked back.
In a four-year stint at KPMG, Vishal started in the financial institutions tax group but quickly moved into the enterprise group where he spent his time honing his tax planning skills for high-net worth individuals, owner-managers, multi-national companies, and everything in between.
Vishal returned to our firm in 2016 and became a named partner in 2023 in recognition of his leadership roles in the tax planning area and firm strategy. TZR TaxTM was launched by Truster Zweig Raithatha in 2023 and is headed up by Vishal and Perry, to further focus our boutique tax consulting approach for our client base which includes other Chartered Professional Accountants and law firms.
The depth and breadth of Vishal’s skillset is instrumental to our firm today and covers tax specialty areas including estate planning and estate litigation support, corporate reorganizations, Canada-U.S. and international cross border tax planning, tax residency matters including immigration and emigration planning, mergers and acquisitions for private and public companies, goods and services tax (GST)/harmonized sales tax (HST), and tax disputes resolution.
